If you’re travelling through Scotland by car or coach it’s easy to find Newtonmore village (which is on the A86) by turning off of the main A9 route onto the B9150, travelling south from Inverness, just 12 miles south of Aviemore. If you’re approaching from the Perth side, look out for the B9150 turning to Newtonmore just beyond Etteridge.
You can also conveniently reach Newtonmore by train, because it has a station – just a short walk from Golf Course Road – served with regular Abellio ScotRail and Avanti West Coast trains running on the Highland Main Line. Even the Caledonian Sleeper calls at Newtonmore’s single platform station en route to and from London Euston.
When you reach Newtonmore you’ll be just about in the geographical centre of Scotland, in the heart of the magnificent mountainous Cairngorms National Park, and you’ll likely be surprised at the wide range and quality of the accommodation on offer for visitors.
Here are just a few of the options to give you an idea of what to expect:
The village itself has all the amenities you need in the form of shops and services, including a supermarket, Post Office, bank, petrol station, and hairdresser.
You may have come primarily to enjoy the golf at Newtonmore, but don’t rush away too soon. There is plenty to see and do in the village itself and the surrounding area, particularly if you’re a lover of the great outdoors.
